I must admit. I like, no I love to pull with chains! I can explain why but I do.

I don't like pulling off of 4" blocks though. These are tougher for me than pulling from the floor. I really try and work this part of the lift at the beginning of a training cycle and then start to work my way down. I like to always start from the top of the lift and work to the bottom of the lift. This works for me. If I can get my body used to handling heavier weights at the top and building my confidence my body responds better to picking them up much better.
