I’m currently in meet prep for the 2016 APF Equipped Nationals, in Orlando, Florida on May 28th, 2016. I will be competing at 132 pounds, raw with knee wraps. The big picture is to prep for this meet, and obtain a top three placing to qualify for WPC Worlds in November.
For programming and coaching inquires, please email SmitleyPerformanceSystems@gmail.com or visit brandonsmitley.comTuesday I got in my heaviest deadlift training day of the meet prep. Weights seemed to look and move very well, and arguably the best they ever have leading up into a meet. I feel that I've done a great job of addressing weak points and listening to my body a bit more. Deadlifts felt so good that once I got to 500 I just decided to pull what would be a PR attempt from a slight block height, and then call it a day. I held on to 500 the best I ever have as well, so my grip work is certainly paying off. With the heaviest squat and deadlift now out of the way, I've just got to take a really heavy bench press day on Sunday and then we start pull back on everything (thank goodness). I've never been so ready for a meet and an off season. Nearly 6 months straight of meet prep has definitely taken it's toll on me.
