“The same people who said social media was killing the industry now can’t survive without it.”
Observation:
The people who once criticized social media for “ruining lifting” now rely on Instagram and TikTok to promote themselves.
Expansion:
When social media showed up, lifters swore it would destroy everything authentic about training. Now, those same lifters are fighting algorithms instead of PRs. The problem isn’t the platform, it’s how you use it. The ones who last figure out how to share what matters without selling out who they are.
“Visibility without values is vanity.”
Content has always been a mix of education and entertainment. When you think about the content that has had the most significant impact on you, it was likely tied to a personality, so when it comes to content, people will lean toward personalities they relate to.
There should be some caution there, as some of the best advice you need to hear will go against the bosses you may have.
The people and personalities you may like often share the same biases you have, so my advice is to also look for people you dislike and see what they have to say.
BS comes from everywhere, so use common sense. If some ideas seem too good to be true, they are.
Also, check sources because science-backed claims can be just as far-fetched as pseudoscience, as people cite studies without reading them or do so because they saw someone else do so.
Rely on what has worked for you in the past and be humble enough to know there are better ways you don’t know yet.
