Before you watch the video, make sure to read

my article about using high reps for powerlifting – it contains a lot of background info that I think will help put this into context. A few extra things to keep in mind when using AMRAPs specifically:

  • Be conservative when using AMRAPs in your powerlifting training. Don't go to absolute failure, and don't use them as the mainstay of your programming.
  • Try doing some submaximal work sets before your AMRAP to help moderate your level of effort and choose the most appropriate weight for a particular training day.
  • When using AMRAPs, keep your accessory work fairly light -- at least 2 reps left in the tank on each set.
