The first results are in: Brian Schwab won the single-ply World Powerlifting Congress World Championships for the 165-pound weight class. On the day that it counts most, when competing for a world championship, Schwab hit a 650-pound squat, 435-pound bench press, and 573-pount deadlift. His lifts, which gave him a 1658 total and a single-ply bench personal record, also earned him a world-class finish on coefficient.

Immediately following his triumphant performance, Schwab spoke with us about the meet and his plans for the future. From his immediate reaction, Schwab shares what it’s like to compete in the WPC World Championships and where he plans to go from here.
