I have been doing 30 minutes of recovery cardio on my off days. You don't need to avoid cardio if you are a powerlifter you just need to make sure it is not effecting your actual strength training. Bicycling, walking your dog, walking or whatever is a great way to do it. Also it will help incredibly coming down a weight class, or even just letting you eat a little bit more if you love food like I do!
