A couple of weeks ago I deadlifted with one of the guys on my team who is also a friend of mine. I usually don't do that because I like to give all of my attention to my lifters. This particular day Cardell Oliver was struggling to get motivated. I told him that I would pull with him. He was already at 500. I took a couple of warm ups then pulled 500 easy. Cardell was working with 567 and got 3 solid reps. I put on 606, I pulled it for a solid one. Cardell pulled it for 2. Hmm, here we go. Cardell threw the original plan out the window and accepted being pushed. So we loaded up 672. I pulled it for 2 reps putting the pressure on Cardell. Cardells best is 730 at 220, a very good pull. I look for him to pull upwards of 750 when he is in condition on the platform. But he missed 672. Which he usually destroys. This was fun and I know it will motivate Cardell to rep that weight next time out. Its about having fun and pushing each other.
