Over the weekend I planned to get over to Elitefts to take my heaviest squat attempt for the training cycle. I ideally would have liked to take this on Saturday, but Steve Goggins was having his strength camp/clinic that day, so I had to settle with a training session on Sunday morning. I met up with Joe Schillero, Mario D'Amico, Alyica Israel, Renea, Joe and Tome McNeil, Bryan, and my training partner Trey came along for the ride. It was a great overall weekend as most of us arrived on Saturday and hung out at the hotel that evening.

I was very pleased with my squatting for the day. I had hoped to work up to the mid 500's or so, and the way 540 felt I just decided to shut it down there. I went a little too deep on that attempt and lost some tightness in the hole, but I was still able to finish the rep...a very good sign for me (at least mentally). I felt like had I stayed tight in the bottom I was good for at least about 20-30 pounds, but just decided that I was already at a 30 pound training PR from the Arnold, and that I was on a good roll for meet day. I reverse banded 570 to get a feel of a PR weight attempt and pretty much called it a day after some light accessory work. Now with the biggest squat behind me, I've just got to focus on one more big deadlift and bench press day, a weekend of openers, and I'm pretty much wrapped up. I think things are clicking nicely and I'm happy with how everything went.
