Block 10, Wave 1 - Events @ Iron Athletics

Getting to train with Steve Mattheu, my friend, former roomie, former coworker, and one of my original training partners in strongman and co-founder of the Meat Head Dream Team is always joyful and triumphant. We trained at his gym up in Forest Hill, MD and despite some general misery, especially since I made everyone do sandbag clean and press, it was an awesome day.

Sandbag C&P (clean each rep)

5x50

5x90

6x120

5x150

5x170 - I muffed every single one of my cleans on both of my heavier sets, but overall this felt way better than last week.

Yoke (drop and repick at 30')

60' x 195

60' x 395

60' x 575

60' x 665 - This was where I realized that it was not going to be a Speedy Gonzalez type of day for me on yoke.

60' x 725 - Faster/better than my previous run, but still slow as canine feces.

60' x 775

While none of my runs was anywhere close to fast today, I did feel relatively strong with the heavier weight. Retrospectively, I think the massive soreness/tightness in my legs from my prior 2 training days was playing a role in keeping me at a snail's pace.

Tackyless Atlas Stones (to 48" platform)

10x225 - I can't remember when/if I've ever done a set of 10 on stones before - they don't call me Balls Deep Natalie for nothing.

2x1x300 - The 20" stones were a wee bit dusty so I had to go super slow to keep from slipping without tape, tacky, or my grip shirt, but both of these sets felt strong.
