Yes, I have taken the whole week off from training. I will probably take off another week as well. My body is finally hitting homeostasis. It is so weird for me. I never take time off like this. However, Saturday after the meet my body was pretty jacked up, especially my back. So when we got home I took a prescription muscle relaxer. It is a very mild dose because I am crazy chemically sensitive.

After a contrast shower I really wanted to go out for a bit. It was early and I wanted to celebrate. Jess and I headed to a beachside restaurant. I really like being outside more and more especially near the ocean. I feel very connected to it. It brings me peace. Anyway, enough of that Zen moment. We ordered nachos and a drink. Let me tell you, I am a very cheap date. That and I forgot I had taken a muscle relaxer. After two adult beverages I was quite relaxed.

We got home and had a little bite to eat. By then it was around 8:00. Jess just looked at me and said “You should go to bed.” I usually fight it, but I didn’t this time. I was out within seconds. I had such an awesome slumber. When I woke I felt like a new person. My back even felt a little better. I was really prepared for it to feel worse because that’s usually what happens the day after a meet.

This kind of told me that my body really needed a break. Each day of this layoff I am feeling better and better. I think one more week will get me as close to 100% as I can get. So I will stay true to the recovery of the treadmill, warming up, and whatever stretching feels necessary.

The only new twist is I did add in the prowler. I did it one day and suffered no ill effects to my body the next. So I am going to do it as feel for the next week. Then it will be three days a week on non training days.. I want to be more awesome like me friends and mentors Wendler and Selkow.
