With putting on muscle being a priority this off season, transitioning through gear was a worry on my mind... especially getting my bench shirt cut off. I talked to my coach Matt and since I pushed my competition back to August 6 in Cleveland, OH we had a couple weeks of wiggle room to experiment with things. Steve Diel sent my a size bigger jack squatter in case I couldn't fit into my normal suit. When trying on the bigger suit, it went on way too easy. I tried my usual one on and it actually fit perfect, despite my weight gain. I'm assuming since I lost some fat on my thighs that sliding in and out of three plies of gear is more feasible. I was supposed to do speed squats with a ridiculous amount of band tension, but the bands were not available when I needed them so I just stayed in my suit bottoms and went heavy. It was definitely weird not sitting to a box and took some getting used to. It was a fun but long day. It was hotter than Satan's asshole in the gym so after squatting, Sev and I bought like 20 bottles of water and went to get some food and rehydrate. I made sure to crush my accessories on my next lower body day.
